A man died after a scuba diving accident at 'Miracle Waters', a quarry outside Brits.
Allan Wynn, 50, complained of chest pains and collapsed soon after completing a dive at the quarry.
Quarry owner Estelle du Plessis told police a doctor who had been diving at Miracle Waters and paramedics who rushed to the scene of the accident tried to save Wynn but he never regained consciousness after he collapsed.
Police confiscated the victim's scuba diving equipment as part of their investigation into the cause of death.
Authorities said the South African Divers Alert Network franchise was also involved in the failed rescue effort.
