GROTTO BAY, Bermuda — An American tourist collapsed and died immediately after resurfacing from a helmet dive in Bermuda.
Authorities told CDNN that Richard Stube, 72, of Deptford, New Jersey, who was visiting Bermuda aboard the Norwegian Majesty cruise ship, was helmet diving with Peppercorn Diving, a company affiliated with Triangle Diving, a PADI 5-star dive resort and full service dive shop.
Witnesses said Stube collapsed on the dive boat after completing a fish-feeding helmet dive in shallow water.
Stube was pronounced dead after attempts to revive him by the Peppercorn dive boat crew failed.
A Life Member of the Almonesson Lake Fire Co., where he served as Chief for over 20 years, former President of the Deptford Twp. Fire Chief's Association, a member of the NJ Exempt Fireman's Relief Association, and a member of The Meeting of the Minds, Stube is survived by his wife, Joyce, three children including Kymmi, Tracy and Lori, and grandchildren Eddie, Karlee, Kasey, Cierra, and Breanna.
