PULAU AUR, Malaysia — A renowned opthamologist died while scuba diving with a rebreather off Pulau Aur on Saturday.
Authorities told CDNN that Dr. Marcus Lim, 37, suffered fatal injuries while diving with 13 others at the Seven Skies wreck, a dive site off Pulau Aur on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
Lim's body was taken to Mersing Hospital and then transferred to Singapore where he lived with his wife and young son.
A respected clinician-scientist who worked at the Singapore National Eye Centre, Lim was awarded the National Medical Research Council fellowship earlier this year.
Witnesses told CDNN that Lim was an experienced scuba diver who had been diving for at least seven years.
