Police are investigating a scuba diving accident that killed a tourist at Gili Banta.
Authorities told CDNN that Russian tourist, Syiromi Nakauz Mikael, 45, died soon after resurfacing from a dive to a depth of 25 meters with three friends.
One of the other divers notified the boat crew that Mikael was having trouble breathing.
Despite efforts by the crew to save Mikael, he died onboard the vessel.
The victim was among a group of eight divers who booked a trip on the M/V Tarata liveaboard.
West Manggarai Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Syamsurid said that the fatal scuba diving accident is still under investigation and the cause of death has not yet been determined.
