A London scuba diving instructor has developed a new sport that combines scuba diving with cycling. The London School of Diving's Nick Mobley pulled together technology to create what he believes is the world's first "underwater turbo training cycle." It's a cycle that has been specially designed for operation in their diving pool.
The school has now opened a challenge to all divers to see who can cycle a mile underwater. Divers have to pay an entry fee, but proceeds go to a charity. One diver who tried the challenge said it was awkward at first, but it's a great workout.
"After a little bit of faffing about and getting used to the bike, getting it in position, weighting it down properly everything like that, it all went really, really well," said scuba diver Vicki Clarke. "It's quite hard work a lot harder than we anticipated it being. A few interesting buoyancy issues, you really need to use all of those skills that you get as a diver to stay solidly on the bike but I'm very tired now having completed the mile but it was a lot of fun."

I think this could be useful to calculate your air cosumption under different loads of physical stress. This kind of cycles can be set to different degrees of resistance so you can measure how much air you use as your effort increases. Interesting stuff.
